Yesterday, the District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that the gaming compact recently signed between the Seminole Tribe and the State of Florida violated the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA). The court highlighted its issue with the sports betting provisions of the compact. As an interim remedy, the court ordered the entire compact vacated and that the 2010 Tribal-State compact be reinstated in lieu. A full discussion of the case is forthcoming, and the National Indian Gaming Association will continue to monitor the development of this case.
